    • EXCERPTS FROM THE INTERVIEW – VUK RSUMOVIC – "NO ONE’S CHILD"

      FEST 2015 / News / EXCERPTS FROM THE INTERVIEW – VUK ...
      03. March 2015.
I had other stories stashed, but I ultimately understood that the story of nobody’s child had that "it"

(About the festival life of the film and the actual story of the film): “I was told the story about the boy living in the woods in a wolf pack by my wife Ana Tomovic more than five years ago. I had other stories stashed, but I ultimately understood that the story of nobody’s child had that “it”, which was also recognized on different workshops where the script was developed, including Binger in the Netherlands. When you have such a story, it’s not difficult to make a film about it.”

“(About being at the same time the writer and the director of the film): I was the writer of this story and at some point, the project was left without a director. We already had the money and we had to decide what to do in a short period of time. My wife Ana Tomovic and the editor Mirko Bojovic convinced me that I could do it and I was ultimately supported by the producer Miroslav Mogorovic. I was playing with the story long enough and I had the complete vision how to translate it to film.”

(About being at the same time the writer and the director of the film): “I don’t have formal film education, but I believe the most important thing in this line of work is to watch films, non-stop. One of the films that I will highlight is Steve McQueen’s “Hunger”, as well as the excellent German film “The Life of Others”.

(About children being the most important segment of the film): “Working with children has definitely been an extremely important aspect of the film. The role of the boy that has gone a long way from a wild child to a socialized young man was extremely demanding for a non-professional actor. Denis had all the mental and physical tools to respond to that challenge. The children in general were areference to professional actors, which in turn helped them in the preparations and in working on the set.”

(About the reaction of the audience to the film): “The film was shown on a festival in Switzerland and received the award of the Youth Jury, but I wasn’t there so I didn’t hear the comments. Regardless, our aim is to attract young people - students and teenagers, since I think they are the generation that should react to “No One’s Child”.
